Blogger’s Quilt Festival – City Sampler!

100 blocks,

almost 365 days,

at least 20 posts…..

And finally the City Sampler is here!

Actually it was finished ages ago, but I got waylaid by the photography side of things.

Spring '14 Blogger's Quilt Festival - AmysCreativeSide.com

Really though it seems to have been perfectly timed for the Blogger’s Quilt Festival, yay!! Last time I didn’t have the confidence to put anything on show, but I did have fun visiting everyone else’s beautiful quilts so I decided this time why not enter.

And that’s what I’m doing with my biggest quilt so far and possibly, most probably, my last……unless I sort out my sewing space!!

A Lovely Year of Finishes + Giveaway Winner

I could say that my goal for this month is to finish my city sampler, but I would feel a bit like I’m cheating as it is already finished. You must be sick of hearing that by now, but no honestly it is!!

Here’s a hint:

So instead I thought it would be nice to get started on the bucket list.

At the end of the month very excitingly I am travelling down to the big smoke and meeting with my Strip Bee quilty friends…yay!

One year on……blogiversary and a giveaway!

HAAAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME !!

Bit late…(no surprises there)….but last week was my blogiversary, yay!

One year on and I can’t believe what I’ve managed to cram into a year.

Here’s what kicked things off………..

This top and thoughts of more quilting led to my best purchase ever, my lovely Janome.

Janome enabled me to produce this baby….. Continue reading

City Sampler – Ch… Ch… Ch… Ch… Charcoal!!

Well I finally came to a decision. Thanks for all your suggestions, it’s so helpful to hear what everyone out there thinks…especially if you agree with me..haha!!

I went with my intitial option…yes, you guessed it…charcoal!

I got some other Kona colours through including some Kale and Celestial, but they weren’t quite right and so tired of the brain strain I went with my gut.

Here’s a little sneak peak of the result:

City Sampler – A bit of background

As promised I’m back looking for some opinions. I managed to scrape together some possible fabrics to use as sashing/background. They are not looking the best – poor light and lack of ironing (there was no way that was going to happen!) but you get the idea.

No 1

Now ignore the pattern on the fabric…like I said I had to scrape together some examples as my stash is somewhat limited. So what I’m thinking here is Kona Cypress or Kale.

I really like this colour, but worried that some of my greens may get a bit lost.

The Final Countdown!

Woo hoo…. nearly Christmas, happy times!!

My countdown to Christmas (and New Year) seems to have gone hand in hand with my City Sampler count up to 100. And my Christmas present to myself is to get all my City Sampler blocks finished.

Amazingly that has almost happened. I’m up to 90 now, plus I have cut all the fabric up to the big 100. I am determined to get them all done before New Year so I can put that part to bed for 2013. Plus we’re going to Berlin (so excited!!) over New Year and DO NOT want to be stressing about those last few blocks.

Here’s a few to look over………
